Our Sick Puppy

.....Lexi hadn't eaten the chocolate covered strawberries! I didn't panic too much until Forrest got on the computer and googled how much chocolate is toxic for a dog. Well, our baby hit the limit. We called the emergency vet since it was late Saturday night and they said to give her 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide. We did that -half all over me and half down her throat....NOT FUN! They said this should make her throw up and get rid of the chocolate. It did but not for an hour later. She threw up most of the chocolate and then had dry heaves all night long. Sunday morning while getting ready for church I found bile with blood in it downstairs on our new floor! That's when we knew we had to take her in! We went to the vet where they gave her a shot for nausea and put her on a chicken and rice diet for the next 72 hours. We are at 24 hours out and still watching her close.

Teach us to have a romantic Valentines Day!

Tuna & Turkey Burgers

After Forrest saw the doctor it was confirmed...he needs to decrease his caffeine intake and get anything that tastes good out of our pantry. We went on a heart healthy grocery trip and from there I planned meals, breakfasts and late night snacks.

Here is a Sampling of What We Got:
  • Salmon
  • Tuna
  • Oatmeal
  • Almond Butter
  • Margarine
  • Cauliflower
  • Almond Milk
  • Blueberries

I've never been super healthy (and never had any problems) so I thought it would be hard to start eating better but it's not! What we do right now will affect the future of our family! It's too big of a deal to "push under the rug." I'm thankful we addressed it now and not in ten years.

Off to make Turkey Burgers for Lunch!

Heart Trouble

Last night we went to Publix to return movies and while we were in there Forrest decided to take his blood pressure. It was 153/89 which is considered HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE! I took mine to see if it was accurate...109/60. That is pretty typical for me. I got the barely there pressure from my Mama!

We were both pretty scared by this. We got home and researched how to lower blood pressure. After reading we realized we need to seriously change everything about the way we eat and decrease a lot of stress. A few hours later, Forrest said he had stomach discomfort and pain in his shoulder which led to a tingling. The first thing I thought was HEART ATTACK so we stayed up talking about what to do and watched Pokerstars until the wee hours of the morning! We both took this serious because Forrest is 26 and pretty healthy. He is going to go to the doctor today to get his heart checked out.

It's scary to go through something like this. Please pray for Forrest!
